Apple TV’s U.S. Grand Prix Weekend: Price, Devices and the Free Altcast
Watching the United States Grand Prix on Apple TV requires a U.S. Apple TV subscription. That regional detail comes before the device list: Apple’s October 22 announcement does not turn the same app into a worldwide F1 broadcast service.

For the Austin race weekend, including Sunday, October 25, the company lists every session live and on demand. There is also a free Tubi alternative, but its creator-hosted format is a different viewing choice. Here is how the options compare before you make plans around a particular screen.
The subscription covers more than the race
Apple quotes $14.99 per month, with a seven-day trial for new subscribers. It also advertises a limited-time three-month offer for eligible buyers who purchase and activate a new iPhone, iPad, Apple TV or Mac. Check the offer’s eligibility before including it in the cost of a new device.
The broadcast package has English and Spanish commentary and up to 30 additional live feeds. Driver Tracker, timing data, mixed onboard footage and a Podium view provide different ways to follow the session. Apple’s footnote limits the P1, P2 and P3 feeds to races and Sprint sessions.
That detail matters if you want a particular driver view during every session. The full feed count does not establish that each option appears throughout the weekend. An Apple TV subscription also excludes third-party branded subscription services and separate rentals or purchases offered inside the app.
Check the screen and sound system
The Apple TV app carries the U.S. coverage on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV 4K and other supported devices, including popular smart TVs and streaming players. A browser at tv.apple.com is another option.
Dolby Atmos joins Dolby Vision for this Grand Prix. Apple specifies supported Apple devices and compatible Dolby-enabled televisions, soundbars and home-theater systems. Owning a device that runs the app is a starting point; it does not establish every picture and sound capability of the complete setup.
Multiview can show up to four feeds together, and Apple says it is expanding to supported smart TVs. Its announcement does not provide a complete model-by-model list. For an older box, our 2017 Apple TV 4K service guide also explains why hardware repair classification and ongoing app availability are separate questions.
What the free options do
Tubi’s free The Fast Lane altcast pairs Michelle Khare with former racer Justin Bell. Apple describes race insights, driver tracking and onboard footage mixed with creator-led commentary. It is an alternative presentation; the announcement does not promise Tubi viewers Apple TV’s entire session and feed package.
Apple Sports is useful for following the weekend away from a video screen. Its free iPhone app supplies leaderboards, standings and live updates. Live Activities require compatible devices running iOS 18 or later and watchOS 11 or later. Those updates help you follow the result, while the live broadcast remains a separate choice.
